Array Design Blog

Last year I helped start a blog with some friends from work looking to explore some new ideas and get in some sketching and rendering outside of our day jobs.

Our first exercise was predicting some new Mustang design language for the 2015 model year.  (I elaborated a bit, here.)

Another project was creating a Ducati 2+2 coupe using their current design language and translating it into a car.  (here)

Check out the Array Design Blog for new projects and sketches.

Alchemy experimentation

Here's a little bit of abstractness to mix things up.  I've been playing with this freeware program Scott Robertson recommended when he visited Toronto.. it's called 'Alchemy' and has an array of basic and not-so-basic tools.  I really like the way that everything you put down is randomized and concrete.. it's an interesting way to work and can have some pretty amazing outcomes that can't be acheived any other way in such little time.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!  (http://al.chemy.org/)

Page outta the sketchbook

Thought I'd post a recent page from this semester's sketchbook.. I've been really busy with competition and thesis work - also started up my portfolio website (http://www.nagel-designer.com/) which I'll be updating soon!

Reminiscing

I was daydreaming yesterday and decided to resurrect Pontiac by designing a new flagship car for the brand.  What better American classic to do this with than the Firebird?  After some fun in photoshop this is what I ended up with...
