Arctos: Canadian Vehicle

In vehicle studio, the current assignment is to create a vehicle that somehow embodies 'Canadian-ness' and represents the country's personality.  After working on finding what exactly makes Canada unique and hitting on several characteristics, I started developing a vehicle which can tread through a variety of Canadian environments; namely the arctic tundra.  With 20 inches of ground clearance and a 4-tread system, virtually no weather or terrain will stand in Arctos' path.  I'll be starting a 1:5 scale clay model this upcoming week - more posts to come.

Ugly vehicle redesign

The last project for my vehicle studio class was redesigning a vehicle that was not necessarily the most attractive.  The class was assigned vehicles ranging from the Renault 5 and Ford Pinto to the Chevy Vega.. some even had to redesign the disastrous Pontiac Aztek.

I was given the AMC Gremlin and began by researching the original model and its market segment.  My main goal was to develop a modern design language for the car while taking hints from the original - all-the-while trying to preserve the same overall essence.  Let me know what you think!

Loosening Up

I've been working on a Canadian vehicle for my studio class and decided to take a break from it last night and sketch something big!  Sketched and rendered on A2 Letraset marker paper.. nice way to mix things up.
